Key considerations when choosing safety footwear…

+ Toe Cap Protection

Metal, composite, and fibreglass toe caps all meet the required impact and compression standards (e.g. EN ISO 20345), but they differ in weight, conductivity, and wearer comfort.

 Metal toe caps

These provide excellent impact and compression resistance. Typically the most cost-effective option and widely used in heavy industrial environments. Heavier than non-metallic alternatives and conductive

 Composite toe caps

These are made from non-metallic materials such as polymer blends, Kevlar, or carbon fibre. Lightweight, non-conductive, and metal-detector friendly. Ideal for electrical hazard environments and high-security sites

Fibreglass toe caps

These are a type of composite cap made using glass-reinforced materials. Lighter than steel, non-conductive, and corrosion-resistant. Offers strong protection with improved thermal insulation compared to metal alternatives.

It’s important to note that all certified toe caps, whether metal, composite, or fibreglass must meet the same EN ISO 20345 safety standard. This means they are tested to withstand 200 joules of impact and 15kN of compression.

The difference lies in weight, comfort, and material properties - not the level of certified protection.

+ Weather & Environment Resistance

Working in wet, hot or outdoor environments? Choose boots designed to handle the elements.

  • Waterproofing prevents moisture build-up and discomfort.
  • Heat resistance is essential in hot work zones or asphalt work.
  • Breathability matters in warm climates or indoor workspaces.
